Stacy Sacco: Just goes to show, a narrow focus can pay
As we approach a population of one million residents in the Albuquerque metropolitan area, it's probably about time that I retract that statement.
Just recently, while driving on Montgomery Boulevard, a commercial van emblazoned with a logo for Just Sprinklers caught my eye and this little discovery prompted some further investigative work.
Indeed, there are many "Just-something" stores in our area now. Take, for example, Just Brakes. They must have a lot of brake work since their Web site shows they have three locations in the Albuquerque area alone. Then there's Just for Kids, who provide dental care with "a gentle touch." They have two offices in our area.
And let's not forget Not Just Closets with three locations, including one in Santa Fe. As their names implies, they also help you design other areas of your home, beyond closets, that need organizing. For example: your home office, garage, laundry room or your pantry.
Other local "Just" stores include: Just Alterations, Just Carpets, Just the Doors, Just Hardwood Flooring, Just Paint, and Just Water Heaters
Just Like New, a local janitorial service plays on the word just to describe what your place will look like when they've finished. Then there is the Just For Looks beauty salon in Corrales, where the name needs no explanation. Just Jump caught my eye, and as you might have suspected, provides play equipment for children, including an inflatable cow and car and other "fun" jumping choices to keep your kid's attention.
Then there's Just the Basics in Santa Fe, which helps you build a customized Web site even if you're not a computer geek.
And although not related to each other, there's Just Construction Ltd. and Just Solutions Contractors. I like both names, especially the one with the word "solutions" in it (and no problems!).
Just Imagine Gallery sells some imaginative items made by local artisans including arts and crafts, lotions and foods. And I can imagine what Just Imagine Murals sells.
Just too Cute in Cedar Crest should be on your must-stop-at-list when driving the Turquoise Trail up to Santa Fe since they specialize in rustic-looking metal decor such as ornaments, jewelry, magnets, wall hangings and inspirational gifts.
I wasn't sure what Just The Best in Santa Fe offered by the name alone, but a little research uncovered that it's a produce store.
And truly, just nearby, is Just Around the Corner, a beauty salon.
One of my favorites is Joan Griffin's It's Just Lunch dating service. Given the reported number of people who get married having found each other through this service nationwide, I would imagine that many of her clients find more than "just" lunch!
Well I'm off to find a store called Just Words to begin work on my next column.
